Attorney Frederica Joy White (“Joy”) is the Founder and Managing Partner of The White Legal Group LLC—the first and only woman-owned and minority-owned boutique law firm in Georgia, to focus exclusively on women’s domestic relations, business, and employment legal issues. The firm mission is “Empowering highly-motivated women to accomplish their personal and business objectives.”
Attorney White is a seasoned and highly-skilled civil litigator with a wealth of experience in the following practice areas: Labor & Employment Litigation, Complex Commercial Litigation, Class Action Defense, Family Law, Estate Planning, Asylum & Immigration, Corporate Diversity Training and Consulting. Presently, Attorney White focuses exclusively on providing consulting and legal services for executive and professional women, their families, and their woman-owned businesses.
Prior to forming The White Legal Group LLC, Attorney White spent several years as an employment and complex commercial litigator at King & Spalding LLP and Elarbee, Thompson, Sapp & Wilson LLP, where she gained invaluable litigation and trial experience representing companies such as The Home Depot, The Coca-Cola Company, UPS, General Motors, Comcast, Wal-Mart, Fresh Express, Rock-Tenn, Morehouse School of Medicine, Hooters, Aarons Rents, and The Atlanta Housing Authority.
Joy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in English Literature, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Spelman College (Atlanta, Georgia) and a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from Vanderbilt University Law School (Nashville, Tennessee).
Attorney White is licensed to practice law in Georgia and is admitted to appear in the Georgia Supreme Court, Georgia Court of Appeals, U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Georgia and Middle District of Georgia, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District Court of Wisconsin.
Joy has an unwavering commitment to the support and enrichment of her community, which she demonstrates by providing legal representation to low-income individuals lacking the financial resources to obtain legal counsel. In 2009, she was awarded The Judge Clarence Seeliger Local Justice Award by the Women’s Resource Center, for her outstanding pro bono representation of a survivor of international human sex trafficking.
Attorney White volunteers with and has participated in The Georgia Justice Project (GJP), Fulton County Juvenile Courts Truancy Intervention Project (TIP), The Georgia Association of Immigrants Network (GAIN), Habitat for Humanity Will Project, Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF) Saturday Lawyers Program, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), Gate City Bar Associations Justice Robert Benham Law Camp, and Tapestri, Inc.
Attorney White is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia (Labor & Employment Section), Atlanta Bar Association (Family Law, Labor & Employment, and Small/Solo Practitioners Sections), Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA), Gate City Bar Association, Georgia Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL), and National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL).
